Central wins 3 of 5 in Clarksville tourney

April 13, 2011 - CLARKSVILLE — Wilson Central finished 3-2 in the Play It Again Tournament over the weekend. The Lady Wildcats finished first in their pool before reaching the second round of elimination play.

They edged Rossview 5-4 in extra innings, lost to East Jessamine, Ky., 4-3 and nipped South Fulton 2-1 in pool play. Central beat Sycamore 7-4 in the elimination round before being knocked out by Ballard [Louisville] 5-3.

Sidney Smith struck out seven Rossview batters and walked none in improving to 7-4. Allie Bennett went 3-for-3 with three runs scored. Lauren Stavinoga drove in three runs on her fourth homer of the season and a triple.

Kasey Squires took the loss in relief against East jessamine to fall to 4-6. Hailey Hubbell doubled in Bennett with Central's only score.

Smith got her eighth win of the season against South Fulton. Stavinoga went 2-for-2, including a home run.

Squires was the winner against Sycamore as Bekah Hutsenpiller and Carmen Ruby drove in three runs apiece. Katie Reddick scored twice as she and Kaitlyn Clark each collected two hits.

Smith took the loss against Ballard despite two RBI on three hits by Kelci Swafford. Reddick racked up two hits and an RBI before the Lady Wildcats returned home with a 14-11-1 record.

Central was rained out at Friendship Christian on Monday. But the Lady Wildcats carried a 3-0 District 9-AAA record to Station Camp at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. They will go to Mt. Juliet on Thursday for a 7 p.m. game.
