BREAKING NEWS: Mt. Juliet Police Department bust million dollar pot growing operation

Part of a pot-growing operation busted in Mt. Juliet last night included plants growing from the ceiling in the hall.

MT. JULIET - Mt.Juliet Police conducted the largest pot raid in the city on record at a home in the Park Glen subdivision Monday night.

According to MJPD Community Policing Director Sgt. Tyler Chandler, the street value of the processed marijuana is worth over $100,000 and the potential street value of the growing pot plants had the potential street value of "well over $1 million."

In a press release Chandler stated an anonymous tip made to the Metro-Nashville Police Department was passed on to the MJPD's Crime Suppression Unit. A search warrant was executed at a home at 1802 Meadow Glen Circle.

Inside the home was the largest pot growing operation every discovered in the history of Mt. Juliet. Over 775 pot plants, 10 pounds of processed pot, five grams of cocaine and thousands of dollars of pot growing equipment were seized by police. Chandler also stated in the release that two vehicles and over $3,000 in cash were also seized.

Two people from Mt. Juliet were arrested and booked into the Wilson County Jail. Stephen Middleton, 45, and Susan York, 39, were both charged with Manufacturing Marijuana, Possession of Schedule II (Cocaine) for Resale, Possession of Schedule VI (Marijuana) for Resale and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

"It is humbling to know that law enforcement neighbors can work together in a joint effort to root out drugs and their collateral public safety dangers throughout our communities," said MJPD Deputy Chief James Hambrick.

The investigation is ongoing.
